5/13/2026

The first Transnational Project Meeting (TPM1) of the ECOHERITAGE project was successfully held at RWTH Aachen University, Germany, from 11 to 13 May 2026.

Representatives from all partner organisations came together to formally launch the project implementation phase, establish the project governance structure, review the timeline, and coordinate the first activities across the work packages.

🏛️ ECOHERITAGE aims to support the climate-resilient and sustainable retrofitting of cultural heritage buildings while preserving their historical, architectural and cultural value. The project will develop innovative training materials, digital learning resources and capacity-building opportunities for students, researchers and professionals.

During TPM1, the consortium:
✅ Established the Project Steering Committee and agreed on management, quality assurance and risk-monitoring procedures;
✅ Reviewed the project timeline, milestones and responsibilities;
✅ Coordinated the development of the needs-assessment report and the structure of the ECOHERITAGE training programme;
✅ Discussed the five thematic training modules;
✅ Planned the first intensive workshop to be hosted by Universidade de Lisboa;
✅ Initiated the development of the ECOHERITAGE digital learning platform, website and social media channels;
✅ Agreed on the dissemination strategy, including regular communication activities and a six-monthly newsletter.

The meeting also featured an invited lecture by Dr. Javier Ostos Prieto from RWTH Aachen University, entitled “What is Sustainability in Heritage?”, followed by a technical visit in Aachen. These activities encouraged valuable discussions on climate adaptation, sustainability and heritage-sensitive retrofitting approaches.

TPM1 laid the operational foundations for the next stages of the project and strengthened cooperation among the partner organisations:
🇵🇹 Universidade de Lisboa
🇬🇷 National Technical University of Athens
🇩🇪 RWTH Aachen University
🇬🇷 CRETHIDEV
🇲🇰 IECE
🇪🇸 Universidad Politécnica de Madrid

We look forward to sharing the next steps and results of the ECOHERITAGE journey.
